What we believe about:
-
We believe in one God who is made up of three distinct persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
-
We believe that Jesus is God in Human form. He is simultaneously fully God and fully Man.
We believe that Jesus was born by a virgin (Mary) by the power of the Holy Spirit.
We believe that Jesus lived a perfect sinless life.
We believe that Jesus came to save sinners by His sacrificial death by crucifixion.
We believe that Jesus rose from the dead and returned to Heaven 40 days later.
And we believe that Jesus is alive and seated at the right hand of God where he intercedes for us.
-
The Holy Spirit is a divine person. He indwells every believer on the Lord Jesus Christ. He was promised by the prophets. He is our Advocate and the Spirit of Truth. He is in the world to convict us of sin, righteousness and judgement to come.
-
We believe that Jesus birth was a miracle performed by God. The Bible teaches that Jesus was conceived by a virgin (Mary) by the mysterious workings the Holy Spirit.
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.” - Luke 1v35 ESV
-
We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God, written by men who were directed by the Holy Spirit. It is infallible, meaning that there are no errors or contradictions, and it is the ultimate source of truth.
-
Essentially, Sin is the rejection of God. When we disobey the law of God we act as if we know better than God and therefore do not need to value Him. The first sin happened at the beginning when Adam and Eve disobeyed God and since then everyone has been born a sinner.
-
Everyone who genuinely repents of their sin and places their faith in the work of Christ on the cross and His subsequent resurrection receives the gift of everlasting life.
At the same time each believer receives the gift of the Holy Spirit within them and their relationship with God is restored through new spiritual birth.
-
“What a man is on his knees before God, that he is and nothing more.” (Robert Murray M’Cheyne)
The Bible teaches that the believer has in God, a Heavenly Father who loves us, cares for us and who is interested in the details of our lives. He has given us the gift of prayer in order that we can individually and collectively come into his presence - made possible because of what the Lord Jesus Christ has done for us through his death and resurrection. Prayer allows us to worship God for all that he is, praise Him for all he has done and to lift up our loved ones, our church and our world, to him.
-
All believers are commanded by Jesus to be baptised as a symbol of our decision to follow Him. The Bible teaches that baptism is by immersion, symbolising the believer’s identification with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
-
We believe that Heaven and Hell are real places and that when we die we will find ourselves in one of these places depending on whether we accepted God or rejected God during our lives on earth.
We also believe that Jesus will return soon and take all true Believers (dead and alive) to be with Him in Heaven but those who do not believe will ultimately suffer everlasting punishment in the lake of fire with the Devil and his angels.
-
‘In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.’
The universe, time, space, the planets, the earth, plants, animals, me, and you were all created by God.
God exists outside of our universe and is the origin of all things.
The Bible tells us that God created everything for the express purpose of having a personal relationship with us. That’s why, when we rebelled against God and chose to go our own way and make our own path, he provided a way that we could be reconciled back to Him, to have the proper relationship that He aways intended for us.
Τhe Lord Jesus Christ took upon himself the punishment for rejecting God, that was meant for you and me. So by accepting the gift of life that God offers to us through the Lord Jesus and by asking for forgiveness for living a life of rebellion against God and turning back to Him, we too can be welcomed back into a personal loving relationship with God our creator.
